Pitt Club

The University Pitt Club, popularly referred to as the Pitt Club, is a socially exclusive, invitation-only club for male students at the University of Cambridge who, for the most part, attended certain public schools. It was founded in 1835 and named in honour of William Pitt the Younger, who was a student at Pembroke College, Cambridge. The Club has premises at 7a Jesus Lane. It used to occupy the whole of a prominent neo-classical building, however, as a result of financial difficulties in the 1990s, the Club now occupies only the upper floors of the building, renting out the ground floor to a restaurant called Pizza Express, and the basement to a nightclub called Po Na Na. The Club is reached through a side door. The equivalent club at the University of Oxford is The Gridiron Club.
