Pithole, Pennsylvania

Pithole, Pennsylvania is a ghost town located in Venango County, near Oil Creek State Park. Pithole was a boomtown that was settled in 1865 due to the numerous oil strikes in the area. In less than two years the population rose to over 15,000 and then fell to under 2,000. Today Pithole is a tourist attraction.
