Pirganj is located at 25.4153° N 89.3167° E . It has 62172 units of house hold and total area 409.37 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^GRBangladeh, Pirganj has a population of 303384. Males constitute are 50.72% of the population, and females 49.28%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 154333. Pirganj has an average literacy rate of 26.5% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[1]
