Pinky Pye

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Pinky Pye" is a 1958 book by Eleanor Estes, the sequel to the Newbery Award-winning "Ginger Pye". The story's main characters are the same as in the previous book: Jerry Pye and his dog, Ginger, Rachel Pye, Mr. and Mrs. Pye, and the new member, Pinky. Also, some lesser known, but still equally important characters are given. The Pyes go on a summer vacation to Fire Island, New York. The Pyes find a kitten (Pinky) abandoned on their doorstep. Once they decide to adopt her, they find that she is a wonderful addition to the already unique Pyes. Pinky wins everyone's hearts and is the newest attraction on Fire Island. Mr. Pye discovers that Pinky has a love of typing, which started by playing with the typewriter keys. She starts typing her life story, (which isn't very long) and she discusses her thoughts and actions by typing, similar to a diary. Jerry and Rachel eventually discover this talent when they witness Pinky writing a book. A compliment to the already loved work "Ginger Pye", "Pinky Pye" has definitely captured many hearts and the attention to keep this story alive.
