Pinjore (Hindi: पिंजौर) is a town in Panchkula district in the Indian state of Haryana.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Pinjore had a population of 25,498. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Pinjore has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 71%. In Pinjore, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The average temperatures for summers and winters are 35 and 18 degree Centigrade respectively, with rainfall concentrated over the summer months of July, August and September.

Pinjore Garden - A tourist's Place    


The Yadavindra Gardens at Pinjore have terraced gardens, which feature the Rajasthani Mughal style Shish Mahal, the Rang Mahal, the cubical Jal Mahal and a series of fountains and waterfalls. The gardens are open from 7am to 10pm and are illuminated at night. The entry ticket is Rs. 5/- per head. With an abundance of fruit trees, do make it a point to taste the fruit chaat, which is made straight from the fruits plucked from the garden. The restaurants and accommodation within the gardens make a lovely venue; rooms cost Rs.400/600 for non air-conditioned / air-conditioned rooms.

From Delhi

By air: The nearest Domestic Airport is Chandigarh and the nearest International Airport is Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. Chandigarh is a 50 minutes flight from Delhi. Flights leave every Wednesday & Saturday to Delhi (Rs. 3000/-) & Amritsar (Rs. 2600/-) and one flight on Wednesday to Leh (Rs. 3500/-)

Taxi: From the airport, you may reach Pinjore by taking a taxi available outside the Arrival Terminal to Pinjore. Taxis are also available for Pinjore from other parts of the city.

By Road: To reach Pinjore by road, you would need to leave Delhi via Sonepat Bypass. From there, take the G.T. Road (National Highway No.1) Northwards towards Chandigarh. Major Towns on the way are Panipat, Karnal & Ambala. After Ambala, take the diversion from G.T. Road towards Chandigarh.

After 35 Minutes, you will reach Zirakpur; take a right on the red light towards Panchkula / Shimla.


Bus Services Volvo Coach, Deluxe, Semi-Deluxe and Express buses are also available from Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), New Delhi to Chandigarh and vice versa every hour from 05:00 hrs to midnight. Ordinary buses ply every 10 minutes. Journey duration is 5 hours.


By Train: To travel by train, you may take a taxi to your nearest Railway Station. You would need to catch a train to Chandigarh/Kalka (3.5 hours from New Delhi).
