Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pine Grove is a borough in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the borough population was 2,154.

Swatara is a fairly recurring name of Indian origin. Originally, "Sawharata", it was probably an Indian village at the mouth of the Swatara stream. The early settlers along the Swatara were German; the name was in no way corrupted to "Sweet Arrow" and was never bestowed on a lake and community. Sweet Arrow Lake was given that name at the time it was created by the East Penn Electric Company.
