Piki
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Piki is a bread made by the Hopi consisting of thin sheets of blue corn meal. The corn has been reduced to a fine powder by grinding it between rocks. By the addition of water, a thin batter is created. The batter is smeared by hand over a large flat rock which has been heated over the fire. The bread bakes and is peeled from the rock. The bread is often rolled up. The thin sheets melt in the mouth and have a delicate corn flavor.
Piki is also used by Hopi women to initiate a marriage proposal.
This term is also used to describe a Protected wIKI, a password protected Wiki that is used for website maintenance without allowing input from the general public.
