Pig roast

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A pig roast is a traditional outdoor gathering in which a whole pig is roasted in any number of ways and then enjoyed by all. Often times pig roasts become annual events which grow in size from year to year. One example of such a roast has been documented on this Pig Roast Website deemed the RoastReport

There are numerous ways in which pigs are roasted. When spit roasting, a large metal pipe (the spit) is ran lengthwise through the pig so that it can be supported and rotated over an open fire. Another method involves digging a large hole in the ground and starting a fire in this hole. After the fire has burned for a number of hours it is extinguished. Then the pig is placed in the hole and covered up with various materials. The heat buildup in the ground then cooks the pig over several hours.
