Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation

The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation or Trudeau Foundation is a Canadian non-partisan charitable foundation established in 2002 with an endowment of C$125 million from the Government of Canada to honour former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.
The Foundation awards up to five Trudeau Fellows each year "in recognition of outstanding achievement, innovative approaches to issues of public policy and commitment to public engagement"[1]. The award is $150,000 paid over three years with an additional $25,000 available annually to cover expenses. Past recipients include Janice Stein. The Foundation also awards doctoral fellowships.

The Foundation is governed by an independent Board of Directors, who served for a term of two years and meet twice annually. The Chair of the Board is Roy L. Heenan. Other members include William G. Davis, Paul Desmarais, Jr., Louise Fréchette, Alexander Himelfarb, Chaviva Hošek, Robert Lacroix, Marc Lalonde, Paule Leduc, Martha Piper, Robert Rae, Marc Renaud, Sean E. Riley, Alexandre Trudeau, and Milton K. Wong.

Trudeau Foundation members meet annually to appoint the Foundation's auditors and choose members of the Board of Directors. Current members include Patricia Bovey, Dennis M. Browne, James Coutts, William G. Davis, Carolina Gallo-La Flèche, Eileen E. Gillese, Jacques Hébert, Roy L. Heenan, Louise Houle, Edward Johnson, Marc Lalonde, Joseph MacInnis, Bruce McNiven, Robert Murdoch, Philip Owen, Patrick Pichette, P. Michael Pitfield, Roy J. Romanow, Alexandre Trudeau, and Justin Trudeau.
