Pierre Balmain

Pierre Alexandre Claudius Balmain (May 18, 1914 – June 29, 1982) was a French fashion designer. Known for sophistication and elegance, he said that "dressmaking is the architecture of movement."
Balmain also manufactured perfumes (Vent Vert, 1947, B.'s first "hit" and one of the best-selling perfumes of the late 40s and 50s; Jolie Madame (1953); Ivoire (1979), Eau d'Amazonie (2006), etc.
His autobiography was titled My Years and Seasons (1964).
