[edit] Titicus Reservoir
Self-nom. I've taken and uploaded many images, but this is the first one I've thought might meet the FP criteria. I would welcome any suggestions. Appears in Titicus Reservoir.

- I would definitely support. Great photo! Jake 23:09, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- I was going to nominate that ;) So of course I will Support! Viva La Vie Boheme
- The picture does not look level (it may be my imagination), but other than that, great photo! Flip619 08:18, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- The far shore is not entirely straight. At a lower resolution this might not be so obvious. Daniel Case 02:12, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well composed. Overall it's a good image, however my one main issue is that it appears to have been sharpened on a computer. This alone is not a bad thing (loads of FPs are artificially sharpened), but it looks over sharpened. Maybe it's just my eyes, I don't know, but the edge in the photo definitely look strange (for me). One less severe issue that might set it back is the blown highlights in the clouds. --Pharaoh Hound (talk) 19:06, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, it was sharpened in Photoshop. I worry sometimes that I overdo it; I could easily produce a less sharpened edit. As for the highlights, those too could have been reduced some more from the original (where they were much brighter), but I decided that at a certain point it came at the expense of the natural qualities of the image. - The tilt (easily fixable), fairly small size (upload as big as you can, usual disclaimer applies) and generic appearance of that scene would make me oppose on FPC most likely. The main point being that this could be more or less any lake. --Dschwen 21:41, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- I went back to the original image and started from scratch. This edit is much higher-res and was sharpened much less. If someone else wants to fix the tilt (I couldn't quite find it; the shoreline opposite curves) and do something about that smudged area near the bottom, they're welcome. - As for just looking like any other lake, well, it's a reservoir that is partly responsible for slaking the thirst of the largest city in the US. But I went past, saw the colors and knew that I had to get that shot. (Compare what I had to settle for on a later, far hazier day in northern Westchester with Image:Cross River Reservoir.jpg and Image:New Croton Reservoir.jpg). Daniel Case 03:13, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
