[edit] Bolt of lightning

Bolt of Lightning... A Memorial to Benjamin Franklin - The 60-ton stainless steel sculpture was designed by Isamu Noguchi. The 101-foot tall sculpture sits at the base of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and next to Franklin Square in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and depicts a bolt of lighting, a kite, and a key at the base.

I took this shot of the sculpture last month and wanted to get feedback. It is used in Franklin Square (Philadelphia), Benjamin Franklin Bridge and Isamu Noguchi.

Comments:

  • When was it built? Photographing it could be an infringement on copyright because it's an artistic work, and by default the artist has all rights reserved, including derivative works such as this. Use in an article on the subject of the picture would probably qualify as fair use, but showing it elsewhere, including on this page, is probably against copyright laws. Also on the subject of copyrights: it should probably have the statue license tag rather than a GNU tag. Because it's fair use it would be inelligible for FPC, which only allows free-licensed images. --Pharaoh Hound (talk) 22:20, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
  • It was designed in 1933 and built in 1985. --evrik 20:19, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
    • It took 52 years for this to be built? Wow. But Pharoah Hound is right. Noguchi died in 1988 so this is copyrighted until 2059. howcheng {chat} 23:56, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
