A pickup artist (PUA) is a term used to describe a man who is skilled in meeting, attracting, and seducing women.

The term is largely associated with the seduction community. The term 'pickup artist' generally denotes a man who employs a learned, structured approach to attracting women. Men who are good at attracting women but are not associated with the seduction community are more commonly called 'naturals' or 'players'.

The term received much attention after the publishing of the book The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists by Neil Strauss.

Becoming a PUA involves mastering the arts of "attraction" and "seduction", or picking up females using non standard methods (such as "wining & dining"). PUA's use a range of approaches with each one varying according to the situation. There are various commerical products (DVDs, e-books, etc) available and Neil Strauss even founded a online academy for seduction .^[1] . Many PUA's learn their skills from being "in the field". Alongside learning what to say, when to say it and mastering body language techniques, PUA's generally learn most by talking to females as much as possible. Feedback is then usually given by senior PUA's and then implemented.
