Piano Trio No. 1 (Schubert)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Trio No. 1 in B-flat major for piano, violin, and violoncello, D. 898, was written by Franz Schubert in 1827. It was published as Opus 99. The piano trio contains four movements:

  • Allegro moderato
  • Andante un poco mosso - This is one of the most exceptionally balanced and movingly exquisite movements in the chamber literature, functioning aesthetically at the near level of Mozart's clarinet quintet, K. 581.
  • Scherzo. Allegro
  • Rondo. Allegro vivace
