Physostegia virginiana Linnaeus |
Physostegia virginiana is more commonly known as Obedience Plant or False Dragonhead, since when bent, the stems will take the new shape. Obedience Plant can grow up to 4 feet tall. Small white flowers bloom on the plant in July and August. It will spread by rhizomes, and can spread at a very fast rate. The flowers are usually white, though light pink flowers are also possible.
It is a perennial that is native to most of the United States, except for the Pacific Coast states.
