Physician, heal thyself

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Physician, heal thyself is a proverb found in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 4, verse 23.

"And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country." - King James Version

During the Rejection of Jesus, Jesus said he expected to hear natives of his hometown of Nazareth use this phrase to criticize him.

The moral of the proverb is counsel to prove your trustworthiness with your own affairs before attempting to tell others what they should do.
