Phoenix principle

In dark age theory, the phoenix principle is the principle of creative destruction.

From the ashes of the older civilization rise the subsequent, gestated during the "dark age". The dark age sees both the destruction of creativity for creativity's sake, as survival becomes the root motivation within society, but at the same time it sees the shattering of the shackles of formula around creation -- the dark age renews the creative "phoenix principle" (a creation out of seeming nothingness, rather than the developmental practice of "developed" societies, where each creation is built on a preceding paradigm) and spurs on the creation of new concepts without the need for precedent or ur-root.
