PhilyG is the nickname of Phil McGowan, a user of wikipedia. I have been a user on wikipedia for a short time and joined to help improve some missing or incomplete information on primarily audio and music. Most of the articles that I will write will be on either of these subjects and I hope that people find them helpful. Wikipedia is an awesome endeavour and I appreciate the work that everybody has done to contribute to this site and make it as educational as it is.

[edit] About Me

I am currently an undergrad student at Berklee College of Music in Boston. I enoy playing the saxophone, composing, and producing or engineering music. My major here at Berklee is Music Production & Engineering, which involves exactly what it states in the title of the program. I also enjoy sea kayaking and taking joy rides out in the country and along the coast.

Music has always been a part of my life. I started playing the piano when I was 8 years old and always enjoyed doing that. When I turned 12 and entered Jr. High, I picked up the saxophone to be able to play in the school band. That has been my primary instrument ever since though my piano skills are used exstensively whenever I compose. I started my work in Live sound mixing when I was 14 and have been doing that ever since. My studio work in high school was limited to smaller gigs around my area and at my small home studio. My studio contained some Alesis Monitor Two's, a Mackie 24x8 mixing consoles, and a Pro Tools 6.9 system. My live sound experience was much more extensive as I have worked several stadium sized events with a company out of New Hampshire called Rainbow Production Services. This experience is proving to be quite useful here at Berklee as my understanding of course material in the program is good. I am enjoying my time here at Berklee very much as I love learning new things about music and audio.
