As the German Army raged in war-torn France millions of young Americans flocked to the draft boards to do their part to ensure freedom. One of which war Mr. Phillip Foss. Originally in the 174th Field Artillery he put in a transfer for the 82nd Airborne just prior to the Normandy Invasion. (D-Day) At 19 years old he jumped into France marking his first of 5 major campaigns. He later went on to fight throughout France, Central Europe, the Rhine, and Ardenns. (Battle of the Bulge) He was also one of the first to liberate the concentration camp Dachau. By the time he had returned to his home in Michigan he had shot down 5 enemy ME 109 aircraft.
