Philippe Lardy

Philippe Lardy( born 1963 Switzerland) is an illustrator and painter. He moves to New York In 1987, graduates from the School of Visual Arts. He co-publishes GIN & COMIX , inspired by RAW magazine with fellow artist Jose Ortega. Draws for the New York Times, Newsweek, Time Magazine, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, The Village Voice,Town & Country, Men's journal, Esquire, Vanity Fair, The Boston Globe and the following companies: The World Bank, Pepsi, Levi's, AT&T, MTV, Saatchi & Saatchi, Arista Records, Bluenote Records,Simon & Shuster, Penguin,Random House, Grove Press, Citibank, Houghton Mifflin, Bloomingdale's, Disney and more.
His art tends to be stylized and graphic with flat colors. Textures are worked in layers that can resemble frescos. Subjects are symbolic and explore the dreamlike nature of archetypes. His style is making both reference to Asian art, as Hiroshige prints, and contemporary artists, Clemente or Sol Lewitt. He moves to Paris in 2000, giving greater emphasis to his painting, while staying an active American illustrator.
He is honored by awards such as: American Illustration, Communication Arts, Luzner Archives, Grand Prix Corporate Français, 10 Best Annual Reports Award , AR 100, Society of Illustrators, Society of Publication design, Society of Newspaper design, Best of PRINT magazine, GRAPHIS. Lardy gives "illustrated lectures" at colleges accompanied by slide projections of his work and has been a jury member for American Illustration's annual. He is the co-founder of le Crayon, the French illustration society. He is both producing editorial illustrations and gallery art. They have been exhibited widely.
