Philippe Cousteau

Philippe Cousteau (30 December 1940, Toulon, Var, France - 28 June 1979, Lisbon, Portugal) was the second son of Jacques-Yves Cousteau. He was born in 1940 to Jacques-Yves Cousteau's first wife Simone. He first dived with an aqua-lung in 1945 when he was 5 years old. He died in 1979 in a PBY Catalina flying boat crash in the Tagus river near Lisbon . His children Alexandra Cousteau (born on March 21, 1976) and Philippe Cousteau Jr. (born on January 20,1980, after Philippe's death) continue the family work in oceanography as the Co-Founders of EarthEcho International. Philippe Cousteau Jr. was present when Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray.
