Phil Grimes (8 May 19298 May 1989) was a highly regarded Irish hurler who had a long and successful innings with his native Waterford.

Grimes was born near Mount Sion Primary School, for whom he later played. In a career that lasted eighteen years, he also played for Waterford and Munster; a career that brought him all the honours of the game.

He was a vital element in Waterford's Munster championship victories in 1948, 1957, 1959, and 1963 - still the only Waterford player to have won the title four times. These victories yielded two All-Ireland titles for Grimes in 1948 and 1959. For Munster, he was a regular for several years, winning four Railway Cup titles. He also helped Mount Sion to four county senior football titles.

He died on his sixtieth birthday after a long battle with illness.
