Phil Bissett

Phillip Douglas Bissett (born September 11, 1956) is an American politician and a Republican candidate for Anne Arundel County Executive in the 2006 election.

Bissett is a lifelong resident of Edgewater, Maryland. He served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates (1991–1999) as a member of the Judiciary Committee. He was also the first Republican chairman of the Anne Arundel County Delegation.

Bissett was the Republican nominee for County Executive in 2002, losing a close race to Janet S. Owens despite being outspent 6-to-1.

Bissett served as Director of Maryland's MARC Train System under Governor Bob Ehrlich until May 17, 2005, when Bissett stepped down from his position in order to concentrate on his race for County Executive.
