Philémon Yunji Yang

Philémon Yunji Yang, LL.B, LL.M, Ph.D (born July 24, 1947), is Cameroon's current (as of 2004) Minister Deputy Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon. He was previously High Commissioner to Canada and had served in that position since 23 October 1984. He also served as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Canada for 10 years. Moreover, he was well respected and liked within the African community in Ottawa, Canada.
His time in Ottawa had been dedicated to securing more foreign aid for his country, despite human rights abuses and Canadian concerns about corruption. Along with other representatives of African countries, he was pleased by Canada's commitment to debt relief in 2000.
As High Commissioner he used to live in Ottawa's Rockclife neighbourhood, close to most of the other African ambassadors. He currently resides in Yaounde, the capital city of Cameroon
