Phidippides, was a Greek messenger who ran from the battle of "Marathon", (Pertion against Athens). A messenger was a person who told the news of important things going around Greese. When the news of winning the war broke out, Phidippides (Phill-a-div-its), ran from the battle field of Marathon to the city of Athens, Greece. The trek made history in Greece and all around the world. The news of the war brought happy thoughts to the people of Athens. But, when Phidippides reached the city walls and delivered the news, he died of happiness and exhaustion.
