Brief History of the Naval Construction Brigade

The Naval Construction Brigade known as the “PN Seabees” traces its humble beginning on 01 August 1966 when the then Department of Public Works and Communications turned over one half of its dredge fleet to the Waterfront and Dredge Company of the Philippine Navy.

A year later, the Naval Construction Battalion was provisionally organized in order to maximize the socio-economic efforts of the Philippine Navy and the AFP. In 1973, Flag Officer In Command. Philippine Navy activated another battalion for the Seabees. The existence of two battalions gave birth to the Naval Construction Force.

On 26 April 1980, in order to increase the operational capability and effectiveness of the unit to respond to its expanding functions and tasks, the Naval Construction Force was upgraded into the NAVAL CONSTRUCTION BRIGADE.
