If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or any other moderator, or you can post a message on the discussion page. Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 21:07, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Why did you remove my add? It is a relevant link, just as relevant as the other links on that page. (irrelevant unsigned comment from 72.199.73.97 on 31 Jan 2007).

[edit] Ted Kopulos

Hello. Why did you revert the PROD I put on the above article and labelled it spam? This bloke does not meet WP notability guidelines. Maustrauser 12:00, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, my removal of his spam link crossed your reinstating your PROD tag. I was about to put it back when you sent this msg. Putting it back now. Phaedrus86 12:02, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I see you put it back already. Once again, sorry about that, I did see the error and would have fixed it if you hadn't. I agree we should nail this guy. Phaedrus86 12:04, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
No problems. I should have looked on his talk page before complaining! I reckon that the article is WP:VANITY. I guess it could be speedied? Maustrauser 12:06, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I will support a speedy. Definitely junk. Phaedrus86 12:08, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tin Pot Operation (Reply)

Hi Sd31415, just wanted to let you know that your reversion of vandalism to this article on 20 January didn't quite work as you expected because you used Popups to do the reversion, and there were two sequential edits by the vandal. The result was you reverted his second edit back to his first, which was still a vandal edit. Popups only goes back one edit, it's a "feature" to watch out for. Thanks for helping keep the vandals at bay, though. Phaedrus86 10:21, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for noticing! I noticed that right after I reverted vandalism, too, and I removed popups from my monobook.js. Sorry for not finishing the job. Cheers! S.D. ¿п? § 12:47, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Currently in Bunbury - having watched doplhins in koombana bay today and full length westcuits still felt cold - marvellous! The lack of replies for me was an admission of guilt. Sorry that I festered your talk page with my disbelief in good faith, cheers. SatuSuro 10:41, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Removing "spam" references?

I notice that you are removing what you describe as "spam" references in articles like Arthur Boyd. On first glance, they seem like quite relevant books to the topic. What's the deal? --Robert Merkel 11:44, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

The person who added the references in question, Dr Christopher Heathcote, is the author or co-author of the books cited, and he added similar citations to at least 26 other art-related articles. I got his book "The Quiet Revolution" from the library and checked it. It is an art history book covering 1946 to 1968. There are references to Boyd, but no section devoted to Boyd specifically, so it is not a reference on Boyd worth citing, especially given that it is the author plugging his own books. See also the comments from 18 January on from at least one other person than myself on his user talk page. Self-promotion like this is spam, so I treated it as such. Phaedrus86 20:41, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spam label

Dear Phaedrus86,

I provided a link that I thought would be helpful to the users of this page, but you labeled it spam. Let me know what I can do to remove the label and get it reinstated.

-1admd

1admd, the link you refer to on Electronic medical record was removed because it was a link to a site selling software. It was removed under the Wikipedia external links guideline on links to be avoided number 4: Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services..
I am a little surprised at your question, because I posted a standard form notice on your talk page explaining that inappropriate links include links that exist to promote a product. The notice also included a link to the Wikipedia guidelines. Had you followed these links and read the guidelines you would not be asking this question here, because you would have got the message that advertising links are called spam on Wikipedia and are not wanted. If you create such links they will be removed. Phaedrus86 21:42, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your Edits to Windows Live Barcode

You have recently reverted a revert (excuse the confusing statement) and labelled it as spam, with "Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Windows Live Barcode." left in the comment. This is clearly mislabelled as by checking the history of the article, that particular edit was simply a revert back to the original. The edit was given an appropriate reason and should not be treated as spam. Pikablu0530 08:17, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

The article is all of 4 lines long including a link to a commercial site which does not even appear to be running. Looks like spam to me, and as far as I can see there is no reason for the article to exist. Why not just add a sentence to Windows Live? Phaedrus86 10:24, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Article updated with additional information. Although I am not the author of the article, it is preferable that some sort of discussion to be made before articles are merged. Pikablu0530 14:04, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Point taken, and it looks much better now. Phaedrus86 23:52, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Current count

4,541 at the moment - have just spent a couple of days wandering the nether world of blanking vandals and vandals that elude warnings, swear like american comedians and seem to be like monkeys in kiplings' jungle book - looking forward to get back to tagging indonesian geographical stubs for peace and quiet... otherwise the 16 year old just got his learners permit today... oh well another day ...SatuSuro 05:42, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

16 year old just got his learners permit today - welcome to the joys of being the parent of a teenage driver - our 18 year old #2 son spun his third car into a ditch on Friday. I refuse to lend him any more because it will only contribute to the death or injury of either him or an innocent third party.... they never seem to learn! Phaedrus86 06:23, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Thats what I really dread - the 'P' plate miscreants here in Perth slaughter themselves regularly with white crosses marking the spot - at least my misspent youth (relative i was in mid 20s) driving myself from hobart to queenstown back and forth in the middle of the night on a regular basis involved nobody else literally or financially (and my over the side between renison and rosebery was spectacular but at least I drove away once removed from the steep slope) SatuSuro 06:29, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
...and of course as a teenage driver I was a goody two-shoes who never went over the speed limit. I don't tell them about the stupid crashes I had at their age, or the time I got into a four wheel drift in gravel graded up over the edges of the single lane bitumen on an S-bend north of Kalgoorlie doing 95 miles an hour. Darn lucky to survive my youth, but at least I slowed down when I realised I was mortal. I'd just like to disperse their fog of testosterone before they have the big one, instead of after. Phaedrus86 06:37, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Your description reminds me of the trip between the station north of yalgoo and mount magnet - all those sharp corners unmarked - with the two youngest children in the back of the old jap van - whoa - I can still feel the adrenalin push from the suprise corners and gravel... oh well, I went to bunbury last week with the same two - probably uploading photos of cape leeuwin islands by next week! SatuSuro 06:46, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spam Label - Corvette Dealers

Please help me to get out of this spam label and help my page also!

A tag has been placed on Corvette Dealers, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Pratheepworld 11:15, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Replied on user's talk page. Phaedrus86 11:17, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your Guidance. I have removed the externals links and references links. Will it work now? Or still the same problem? Kindly advise me! Pratheep. Pratheepworld 11:27, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
No! The article is rubbish and should be speedily deleted! If you have any real arguments (which I doubt), put them on the article's talk page - you have to convince the admins managing speedy deletes, not me! Phaedrus86 11:29, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
How should I contact the admin? Please help!! Pratheep. Pratheepworld 13:05, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
That was explained in the notes left on your talk page. Had you read those notes and the linked guidelines you would not be asking all these questions here. You had the opportunity to argue your case on the article's talk page. The admin handling the case reads that before deciding whether or not to delete the article. As for help, the only help I can give is to suggest that you don't create articles like that in Wikipedia - leave it to the yellow pages. Phaedrus86 23:42, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Kingbeem, Question

This is reply on your talk on Talk:Kingbeem. I understand. But, I like to add my article on category such is Travel Websites. Did you see other articles on that category? Can you tell me which of them are by the rules of Wikipedia so I can write something that is going to be correct. Thank you for understanding. Kingbeem

Firstly, a tip: you can create internal Wikipedia links just by surrounding the page name with double square brackets. If the page type is not an article, prefix the name with the type, for example if you code [[Tourism]] it will appear as Tourism. Similarly [[User talk:Kingbeem]] will appear as User talk:Kingbeem. This means less typing and it is also much more efficient for Wikipedia to generate the resulting HTML.
To answer your question, looking at the articles in Travel websites, I think In Your Pocket City Guides is useful. It provides a lot more than just guides, it provides a lot of useful stuff that is of interest to many travellers and it also provides an interesting view of how the In Your Pocket guides were successful. Sinmilarly, Lonely Planet is pretty interesting and informative. I think about 90% of the other articles are rubbish, spam or both, and I will be going through them in the next few weeks and nominating many for deletion.
There is already information on your talk page with links to guidelines that carefully explain what is and is not described as spam. I suggest you read it carefully.
I can't provide any help in telling you how to produce an article on luxury Croatian hotels, because I think you should be looking at yellow pages, not Wikipedia. You have to ask yourself why you want to create this article. I suspect the anwser is "to boost sales for the hotels", in which case, please go elsewhere, Wikipedia is not an advertising site and I am not interested in providing free marketing advice. Phaedrus86 09:36, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for answer and for suggestions also. My reason is around that you said. Although, our site is not commercial and wouldn’t be for next two years for sure. For now it’s a hobby. I was looking for something else on Wikipedia, and I came on Travel Websites and decided to add our. So, my reason is probably same as for other sites. Thank you once again, I will think about what to do. Kingbeem

[edit] db tag on Steven Kray

I was the one that instituted the tag.. Then I was unsure, so I decided to take it off. Is that against wiki protocol? The article requires close scrutiny. I was not sure about notability. My gut tells me it is not, especially considered how poorly referenced the article is, and a quick google test I performed. However, seeing that the article is rather long standing, I decided to take off the speedy tag, and perhaps go use Prod or AfD, although I was hoping another editor might do that. Also, user:Stevenkray's edits should be looked at. He has created several non-notable company-related articles that link to Steven Kray. Most of them are up for deletion, and the rest probably should be as well. Danski14 04:15, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Update: I looked over the article again, and re instituted the deletion tag. I guess it is non-notable. Danski14

lol: sorry about that. I was a little confused about what happened. Danski14 04:53, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] revealing background

which end of the prairies? my father did sasktatoon by 1920, and lived in guelph 1930 -1936 approx - so I am curious :) SatuSuro 12:11, 5 February 2007 (UTC) And I m just plain old perth,w.a. born and returned from elsewhere... sigh SatuSuro 12:13, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Hmm. Thinks...SatuSoro's mind moves in strange directions and circles. I wonder what he's thinking about here? I know, I replied to a Canadian's comment, and he thinks I've been there....am I right? I've never been anywhere in the Americas, I just thought his comment was funny. Phaedrus86 12:16, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Ahah - you are right - so I am wrong again - background/heritage not actual experience - maybe I should ask for your help on the various ocean edit wars - i think you probably would be more perspicacious with some of the absurdities than I seem to perceive - but then we all have our challenges (or teenagers) in life...sigh SatuSuro 12:25, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] How many last warnings?

Hiya. I've noticed you gave a vandalism last warning notice to User_talk:212.219.203.173. He has subsequently vandalised Ross_County_F.C., possibly twice. Lianachan 21:20, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Road transport in Australia is new WP:ACOTF

Hi. Thanks for all the work you've already put into Road transport in Australia. In case you haven't noticed, it has been selected as the new WP:ACOTF with 6 votes. Please continue to help improving it. --Scott Davis Talk 12:40, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Scott. I saw that, it is a good selection. I will try to do a bit on it every day. Phaedrus86 12:42, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
