P.S.: Oh and thank you (again?) for your suggestions as to what I should do on Wikipedia! :)
[edit] Thanks
Thanks for the nice comments. ^^ In all honesty, though, you're probably a far nicer individual around here than myself. I tend to feel that our mission of producing a quality encyclopedia that doesn't sway from its foundations for any reason is the most important thing for us to do here (and, really, that's a huge courtesy to people in and of itself, right?), but that often gets me in trouble with people when we're butting heads over whether or not a certain measure of courtesy (such as spoiler tags) should be included. If I feel like it gets in the way of a policy or something, I'm pretty hardheaded and unyielding, even while I respect the opposing sentiments and would agree with them wholeheartedly were we anywhere else on the internet.
Not that I doubt you'd defend the encyclopedia's purpose strongly, but you just seem really... sweet. XD I don't know, you just come across as a really nice person and I doubt that I'd be counted among that same pedigree when I'm trying to conduct myself as an editor. Strangely, though, I find it easier to respect the compassionate heart who won't give ground even on the basis of encyclopedic principle than I do myself when I strive to ensure recognition of the mission. I kind of find myself saying on a mental level "You know what you're here to do, so keep to it" while on an emotional level I say "I'd like to agree with these guys who are probably hating me right now". You've earned my respect with the kind manner you present yourself in. I know it's caused you to catch some flack from some people who think that affection is icky and offensive, but to hell with them.
I don't want to get too long-winded here, but as I was telling my buddy Tyler when he was suggesting that he maybe nominate me for adminiship, I don't think someone like myself would be suited for it, despite my dedication to the project's principles. I think that someone like he or you, who expresses a lot of patience and overwhelming kindness (for example, he usually takes a neutral route in the kinds of disputes I get in) is better suited. I told him I could agree to follow whatever rules went with the position, but I'd personally not want to show any mercy to vandals. XD That's probably not the best thing.
Being here has kind of made me behave differently from how I normally would. In all other respects of my life, I believe compassion for others is the absolute most important thing. But given that the project here in principle demands that we not always put it first (such as the non-censorship policy), I found myself caught between how I'd normally be and what the project asked for there for a while. I finally accepted that since I wanted the project to be the apex of what it intended itself to be, I'd do whatever it called for, but sometimes I find the decisions I make in that regardd distasteful.
I'm sorry for talking your ear off here (or eyes out, as the case may be), but after you got me to thinking about the subject, it seemed kind of easy to say such things to someone who I think could probably easily understand how discomforting that situation might become. Do you have any advice on the matter? In any event, I do readily and graciously accept the compliment about being sensible. ^^ I hope I am most of the time. Anyway, thanks for reading if you've read this far, and for the cake. I love cake. Ryu Kaze 02:49, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm trying to figure out when those ads started. The first page you linked to says 1965, but I've searched and found black-eyed women in print advertisements as far back as 1963. [edit] Possibly unfree Image:Twogunhart.gif
- Yeah, if you read your RfA you probably saw this comming. The image is being listed because of uncertain copyright status. 7/10 chance its not public domain in the united states. If you figure out when it was taken and published, let me know. I'm still trying to research into proper fair use policy on wikipedia, so I do not wish to place a potentionally false fair use rationale on the image. The need for the image to be linked in your RfA won't matter too much, because it will end before the PUI is acted upon. Best of luck. Kevin_b_er 07:19, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Me and the mop
Hi! Thanks for all the nice words, I'm really glad that people appreciate my work here. As for me and adminship, I actually had an RfA in June which was not successful (people didn't reach a consensus). The main concerns were my work being mainly on Bulgaria-related articles, whether I really needed the mop, and if my project namespace contributions were enough.
I do intend to nominate myself again in the future, and I'm thinking of doing this towards the end of this year. I'm currently working to address the concerns from my old RfA and I've recently been more active in the Wikipedia namespace (particularly at WP:FAR), I've also been actively countering vandalism and sockpuppetry (two cases in several days, both related to the Bulgaria article), so I hope people would take this in consideration during my next RfA. Of course, my general encylopedic contributions have not decreased even a bit! :) Todor→Bozhinov 14:45, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Hello Phaedriel, how nice of you to drop by! I'm doing quite fine, thanks....but how are you? My RFA is over, but you're still in the middle of yours! Even with so much support, I imagine there is still so much stress you are feeling! I hope it doesn't get you down! [edit] Adminship
Dear Phaedriel, your words are so flattering that I don't really know how to react. I certainly don't have any unpleasant experience with yourself and I don't hold you responsible for the climate of admin irresponsibility that has been reigning in Wikipedia last months. I usually vote for those editors who work in main space, while, checking your contributions, I see that you seem to spend most of your time talking with other editors. It's not a sufficient reason to oppose, to be sure. Therefore I shall retract my vote, though I believe that you would be promoted even without it. So accept my congratulations and please think twice before blocking prolific contributors :) P.S. I share your opinion that the absence of Izehar and Latinus is very deplorable. --Ghirla -трёп- 16:25, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

- Sorry for taking so long yet again. I'm being rather anti-social these day?!?! I finally read of your feats in the Signpost just as I write this, which is unusual, since I normally read it immediately upon publication. I've been spending about all of my time for the last few days, reading up a lot of documentation submitted to me by a group of users warring on Indian religion pages, starting RfCs, and launching personal attacks on many article-fronts, etc - I've received about 80 messages in the last two days, all on serious "official business" so to speak. As a statistical pedant I've kept a count of how many messages I receive - there's a graph on my userpage and I received 65 messages in my first 5000 edits and in the 5000 since the RfA, I've received....1091. Perhaps it's better to return to the old days when I was a totally invisible nobody. Also I've noted that User:Blnguyen#Accusations is piling up nicely (with some of the entries and criticism nicely balancing out), although if you don't want the Atlantahawk entry there (which concerns yourself), I can remove it. And finally, I'll put my entries into the soundtrack soon, perhaps when I help fill up Category:Eurovision songs with the relevant stuff (my much maligned choice of listening). Perhaps, I'll get to do something other than act as a pseudo-arbitrator for Indian affairs, because the complaints seem to be piling up endlessly - but perhaps that is the price for getting more Indian supports on my RfA than even the Indian admins...maybe you'll get inundated soon....or perhaps someone got the impression that I am a eagle-eyed investigator...... Dear Sharon, I just want to send you my warmest congratulations for your extremely well deserved and long overdue adminship. I want to thank you also for the lovely things you wrote about me when answering the questions (which took me completely by surprise)! We've never edited the same articles, as far as I know, but I've seen enough of your talk page posts to know that the average level of kindness among administrators has just gone up, and that's definitely something to celebrate. I hope your future here at Wikipedia will be long and happy. I know that for me, having you as a fellow admin is going to be a postitive experience. Congratulations again, and good luck with the mop! Cheers. AnnH ♫ 20:11, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
I see that my apple turnover has messed up your page, because it's bigger (deeper) than the amount I wrote, so it sticks out into the next section. I'd never want to mess up your page, knowing how beautiful you make it, so I'll write a few more lines. I want to say also that I saw Bratsche's remarks on your page a few days ago, and agreed with him. Also, regarding the image problems that were brought up at your RfA, I have to confess that I carelessly had a fair use image on my user page for a few months after I was made an admin — and didn't even notice. Thankfully, Durin removed it for me.
The preview button tells me that I've now written enough to ensure that the apple turnover stays in this section, so I'll just say once more how very, very pleased I am about your RfA. Having lost one of the nicest admins we ever had, it's comforting to get another with the same qualities. (Excuse the dangling participle!) AnnH ♫ 21:28, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, the amount of text required depends on the width of the lines and the size of the fonts. So this extra bit should help all the people with really wide screens to enjoy this page just that little bit extra. Stephen B Streater 21:32, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Yet another congrats
... and yet another thanks for the amazing card. You know, every adminitis-touched cell in my body itches to deliver a sermon on the evils of spam and the outrageousness of uploading customized bitmaps like that... and I can't do it! You make it work. Your message left me melted in that "aw shucks" state that you seem to manage to produce in so many Wikipedians across every segment of our little, fragmented society. Anyway: congrats on squeaking by in such a close RfA, and I can't wait to talk to you more in the future! —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 20:49, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My beautiful dear darling Sharon!
Congratulations, Sharon! You truly deserve this more than anyone else I know, and it gives me such a pleasure to congratulate you! You surely are the most wonderful user, and the community is so lucky (if a little unworthy... ;) ) to have such a wonderful admin as you. Loads of hugs and fondest wishes, Sergeant Snopake 22:18, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Support with pile-on hugs (though I don't need a reason) I agree with the Sergeant completely. Wikipedia is better already now that you're an admin. — Nathan (talk) / 00:44, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Congrats
I realize you've got a million of these things already, but I had to say it: congrats on a victory that surprised no one. If you hadn't made it, people would have driven, flown or paddled to Florida to tear the servers apart. XD Good luck with all that lies ahead. We're in good hands. I just hope it's not too rough on you. Ryu Kaze 23:27, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Congrats
Hey Phaedriel!
Congrats on the shiny new adminship, and thanks for the cute card. I didn't even know how to open the dang thing at first. It's sooo cool, though. Neat! Re: Spawn Man: I hope he gets back from WikiBreak soon, but I hope he enjoys his time over at Uncyclopedia; maybe there's a little less stress over there.
Anyway, congrats again; we all know you'll be a great admin. Happy editing! :) Firs.--Firsfron of Ronchester 00:33, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Congrats
Congrats on your succsessful RFA!!! I saw your acts of kindness and hard work throughout wiki and just had to support your RFA. Wiki needs more people like you ^_^. I am glad that you now consider me a friend, that is kind of you. :) Have a wonderful evening and congrats again on your RFA. Darthgriz98 02:26, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Userpage design
Hi there, congrats on the mop :)
I've known about your keen interest in userpages, so I thought I might pass along a request. Abstract Idiot asked me if I could do a page for him similar to Tawker's; upon review that's too complex for my meager knowledge of HTML. Could you give me a hand in giving the user a hand? If you're too busy, I'm open to hear of other users that may help. Thanks, Teke 03:17, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hoax CSD'ed?
With regards to this deletion: Your deleting Raleighgon as "hoax" was strange, given that the CSD tag was for non-notable group. The author re-created it, but since this is not an article about either a group or a hoax, I've prodded it instead. Please note that hoaxes are not CSD candidates. Unless, perhaps, they admit unambiguously that they are, in which case you might treat it as test page or vandalism (creatively interpreted). Kimchi.sg 03:54, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Sometimes, if an article goes to a quick AfD and it gets a lot of "delete as hoaxes", it can usually lead to an early closure. — Deckiller 03:57, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- My apologies for the unclear summary. I intended to delete it under G1 as nonsense, after an exhaustive research on the article's contents. If I was wrong, then I beg you to consider this a mistake from a newbie admin - nothing more. Thank you! Phaedriel ♥ The Wiki Soundtrack!♪ - 04:10, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi
Hi Phaedriel, thanks for the lovely personalised card. I can only wish you best of luck when I think that you have to do this almost 280 times.
On another note, you temporarily blocked user:Yob egroeg earlier today. Thought I'd let you know that he seems to be a sockpuppet of WatchtowerJihad from this edit [2], not to mention his edits to his bete noire user:Ambuj.Saxena's page -- Lost(talk) 04:34, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

My current IP was the IP of the guy who insulted you and Native Americans. His IP was 66.218.22.61. Now it is mine. His message was also an insult to me, I am 1/8 Delaware Indian. His message was rude and racist. --Yancyfry jr 02:49, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] thank you for thank-you
Phaedriel, thank you so much for the personalized thank-you card; that was incredibly sweet and I really appreciate it. I'm so glad that we have you. I think your RfA has made people happy because it demonstrates both your natural authority and our wisdom in recognizing it. I definitely look forward to being your friend. --Allen 04:06, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:FlagofComancheNation.png
I kindly ask you to remove this photo from your userpage. The problem with this image is that it is from a website called Flags of the World, which I am an editor of. Our (FOTW) staff/my bosses has asked that their images be removed from Wikipedia ASAP. I am sorry for having to do this, but the image will be deleted soon. However, I will do what I can to make an SVG image of it, given some time. Thanks for you understanding. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 04:32, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Here is your SVG image: Image:Flag of the Comanche Nation.svg. I am going to tweek it every now and then to make it accurate, but I hope you enjoy it. And since this is in the public domain, it can be used anywhere on Wikipedia for any purpose, including your userpage. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 21:48, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- I am glad you enjoy the image. I have fixed some allignment issues, and I will probably do more soon. I am also humbled by the message you left on my talk page. It felt like high school all over again *blush*. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 01:34, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Congratulations!
Congratulations on your promotion! There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that you will be an outstanding administrator in every respect; and I feel truly honored that you would count me as a friend.

[edit] Your RfA
You had an RfA? Oh! Apparently it turned out well, so congratulations! :) I'm sorry I couldn't have done anything; I was on vacation in Canada. (And I still am- I'm in London! Well, congratulations on your spot! Have a nice day. :D Øřêōş 15:11, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Congratulations from me, too. I had been under the impression you were an admin all along, and sorry I missed your RfA. [edit] Oh. My. Goodness.
That was the most blush-inducing thank you letter in the history of ever. I, in return, would like to thank YOU for the kind words you left on my talk page; lately I've been feeling a bit unloved, mostly because I left for a few months, and who the heck would remember someone who left? :P Thank you so much for lifting my spirits on a day where I am completely emotionally drained and needed some batteries!
Also, you're welcome for your RfA. You completely and totally deserved adminship and I would've gone Very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very accept... but I kinda think that would've been a bit huge. But you really really really really do deserve your adminship, and you'll do a great job at it, I just know it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mo0 (talk • contribs) 17:23, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you for my thank you card!
Many congratulations on what must surely be the most successful vote of confidence for adminship in recent history! Your words are very kind and have swept a joyful smile on to my face and deep inside, too. To have someone with the ability and track record of yourself say that they look up to me is high praise indeed - I thought that it was the other way around! Please don't hesitate to let me know if you need any assistance with your new powers - I will be happy to do what I can. Well done, go wisely and keep spreading love! (aeropagitica) (talk) 21:29, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Could it possibly be another thank you?
User:Ta bu shi da yu once said I was one of the nicest wikipedians they had ever met. However, compared to you, I am as nice as a plague-quarantined, venomous spider-filled landmine zone patrolled by angry guard dogs that shoot killer bees from their mouths. (How about that for a phrase you rarely see in thank-you notes?) Your RfA thank you notice was so wonderful, the candy I was eating tasted less sweet. Thank you so much!!! ... (100,000 omitted !) ...!!! RyanGerbil10(The people rejoice!) 02:29, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Congrats
Congrats on the adminship! It got a little sketchy there for a bit; we weren't sure if you were going to pass or not ;-) Thanks for the kind words in the thank you note and on the talk page of your RfA—it makes me feel great to know that others appreciate my work. And of course, when you're ready to give FAC a go, give me a holler: I'd be glad to help out. Your friend, Spangineeres (háblame) 03:31, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Talkpage backlog
That's so awesome that you actually have a talkpage backlog ^_^ By the way, good idea making admin issues a seperate page — that will also help, since some new editors getting entangled with admins for making A7 articles tend to write their comments at random spots in the talkpage :) — Deckiller 03:46, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
Thank you for watching my dog article while I'm (maybe) gone. I'm not going on vacation, the thing is, I am unfortuantely a teenager. No matter how much I intellectually know it's just hormones, some days I just don't (gasp!) feel like editing Wikipedia. Add that to the fact that my boss has a habit of calling and asking me to work extra hours with only minutes' notice, I sometimes disappear for a few days, only to come back and make 100 edits in an hour. The longest I've ever been too depressed happy angry existential working 60 hours a week occupied is, I think, four days. Thanks! RyanGerbil10(The people rejoice!) 04:57, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
