[edit] Creative concept

The character was a parody of the rap artist Eminem. Phat was originally perceived as very homophobic, but later turned out to be gay himself.

[edit] Fictional character biography

Phat grew up poor and used his mutant abillities to gain fame and fortune. He tried to give his family what he never had growing up, but they still tried to live the simple life, this confusing him.

Despite his also confused sexuality, he regularly participated in co-ed naked showers involving the entire team.

Over the course of the series, Phat's powers varied in effectiveness, seemingly in relation to his sexual feelings.

He even once had a brief relationship with fellow teammate Vivisector, which ended when both realized that though they were gay, they were not attracted to each other.

Phat died selflessly protecting the team from a madman's bomb. One of his feet was launched high into the sky, to come back a considerable time later and slay Dead Girl[1]

[edit] Appearances in other media

[edit] Films

Phat makes an appearance in the film X-Men: The Last Stand. Phat is played by two actors, Via Saleaumua and Richard Yee, as Phat in "large mode" and "small mode" respectively. He joins up with the Brotherhood of Mutants. The end credits mention both Phats.

The DVD release features a deleted scene in which Phat is frozen solid by Iceman and then shattered by Colossus.
