User talk:Peterlionel

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is felt that the article you created at Peter Lionel Griffiths is not suitable for a Wikipedia article, which must have a notable subject and be verifiable. I have moved it to User:Peterlionel, which is where users are free to write about themselves. You are at liberty to move it back into the (Main) namespace but bear in mind that if you do so, it is likely to be nominated for deletion.

Note, however, that the purpose of a user page is to enable active editors of Wikipedia to introduce themselves to other editors. Wikipedia is not a general hosting service, so your user page is not a personal homepage. Content unrelated to Wikipedia or its editing is likely to be removed.

Please see the user page guidelines, especially this section for more information.

Please read WP:AUTO. The recommendation is always: wait until someone else writes a biography about you. Furthermore this vandalism and your edit to Griffiths indicate that you are unworthy of a Wikipedia entry. -- RHaworth 09:00, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] e-mail

Hello Roger...Peter Lionel Griffiths here from Sydney.

Firstly, let me apologise for my expert lack of knowledge on Wikipedia's etiquette, there's a lot to learn.

There are many Peter Griffiths's in the world and i merely, and quite rightly, added my details to the existing entry. Is Wikipedea yo be monopolised by only "one" Peter Griffiths, i personally know three others in Sydney alone!

Anything in my profile is verifiable, and i will provide references if you care to specify any particular data that you feel needs verification. i will also welcome your suggestion as to how you would suggest i can have my data reinstated.

Please be assured i had no intention at all to vandalise anything as you have stated, and you should retract that.

i wish you well, Peter Lionel Griffiths (via e-mail)

  • Quite rightly, added my details to the existing entry. No completely wrongly: the correct treatment for people with the same name is to have a separate article for each person and a disambiguation page on their common name. See for example George Anderson. I admit that calling it vandalism was too strong - you added yourself rather than replacing the article.
The other wrongness, which is a matter of opinion, is whether you are notable enough to qualify for an article in Wikipedia. To have that tested, you should raise the matter at wikipedia:deletion review pointing people to your user page and stating that you think it qualifies for the (Main) namespace. -- RHaworth 19:13, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Without making any statement about your relative notability, you may be interested to look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark Steere - another article that I userfied. -- RHaworth 19:57, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User:Peterlionel

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to your user page (User:Peterlionel), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy).

Please note that the purpose of a user page is not as personal homepage or Wikipedia is not a general hosting service, but as way for active editors of Wikipedia to introduce themselves to other editors. If you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues here or on my user talk page. You may remove the deletion notice, and the page will not be deleted for the moment, but note that it may still be sent to Miscellany for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria.
