[edit] Evidence for Notability Tags

While searching for references on this subject I found the article "Free online encyclopedia wants you for Ottawa page" by Tony Laforo, (The Ottawa Citizen. Ottawa, Ont.: May 15, 2006) which identifies Tretter as one of the two creators of the WikProject Ottawa. The two creators (see: [1]) were User:Spinboy and User:Earl Andrew. Since User:Earl Andrew is identified in the article as Earl Washburn, the other creator, User:Spinboy, must be Tretter. Ccscott 09:08, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

  • On further review I also strongly suspect that Tretter has edited Wikipedia using the account User:GreenJoe, and the account that created this article, User:Ardenn. If I am in error, I apologize. Ccscott 12:33, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
I can't speak as to the other accounts, but I certainly am not this Tretter person. I watch all Green-related articles. Suspicion isn't proof. And not all people edit their own articles. Look at Elizabeth May. If she has edited the article, I don't see anything that shows it was as herself. Such is the case here. You really don't have any concrete proof. More than likely the article will be deleted, so does it really matter anyway? GreenJoe 15:55, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
You can say he has no proof, but you shouldn't just out right lie, Peter. -- Earl Andrew - talk 16:39, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
I respect your right to privacy, to have multiple accounts, and even to edit your own article, but it is dishonest to create and edit an article without declaring your conflict of interest and against Wikipedia guidelines. If the article is deleted, I see no more major problems. However, if the article persists I suggest you publicly declare your identity in this talk page. You can still make contributions to your page as permitted within the WP:COI guidlines.Ccscott 17:27, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
