Petrov Val

Petrov Val (Russian: Петро́в Вал) is a town in Kamyshinsky District, Volgograd Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Ilovlya River (Don's tributary) 185 km north of Volgograd. Population 14,100 (2005 est.); 14,721 (2002 Census); 13,752 (1989 Census).

The settlement grew out of the construction of the Volga-Don Canal between the Ilovlya and the Kamyshinka Rivers, started by Peter the Great in 1698 but abandoned soon after.

It was granted the status of urban-type settlement in 1949 and town status in 1988.
