Peterlee Town F.C.

Peterlee Town F.C. are a football club based in Peterlee, England.

They formed in 1976 as Peterlee Newtown F.C. and joined the Northern Football Alliance.

In 1979, they joined the Wearside League playing there until 1982 when they finished runners-up, joining the newly formed Northern League in Division 2.

They won the Second Division Championship at the first attempt and were promoted to Division 1. In the next few years, they had a yo-yo existence between the two divisions, gaining a further 3 promotions to Division 1. In 1985-86 they reached the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, losing in the replay to Whitby Town.

After their relegation from the top division in 2005, the team finished 2006 at the bottom of Division 2 and were relegated to the Northern Alliance.

In 2006-07, for their first season in the new division the club has changed their name to Peterlee Town F.C.
