Peter lipton

Peter Lipton (born October 9, 1954) is the head of the department of History and Philosophy of Science at Cambridge University.


His Research interests include: Philosophy of science, including explanation, inference, testing, theory change, laws of nature, realism; epistemology, including problems of induction and epistemology of testimony; philosophy of mind, including mental content and the mind-body problem.

Peter Lipton is a member of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics and chaired the working party that produced Pharmacogenetics: Ethical Issues [1]. He is also on the AskPhilosophers panel [2].
