Peter Serracino Inglott

Professor Fr PETER SERRACINO INGLOTT has lectured in philosophy at the University of Malta since 1971, and has served as chairman of the Mediterranean Institute at the University of Malta since 1987 and director of the International Ocean Institute - Malta Operational Center since 1998.
He was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and was ordained in Milan by Cardinal Montini, later Pope Paul VI. He was made UNESCO Fellow of the Open University in 1978 and has been awarded the Légion d'Honneur and the Gra-Cruz da Ordam. He became Chair of the Commonwealth Science Council in 1987 and organised the first meeting of Commonwealth Ministers of Science and Technology.
He is Professor of Aesthetics at the Instituto Internazionale di Arte e Liturgia at Milan and Director of the Institute of Philosophy and Human Studies.He was the rector of the University of Malta from 1987 to 1988, and 1991 to 1996, and chairman of the Malta Council for Science and Technology from 1987 to 1996. He has lectured as a visiting professor in Paris, Ottawa, Cincinnati, Milan, Venice and Palermo. Inglott has served in various capacities with a number of organisations, including the Maltese Broadcasting Authority, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Commonwealth of Learning, the Commonwealth Science Council, the Mediterranean Society of Philosophy, and UNESCO. He is the author of numerous books and articles mainly on the border area between philosophy and the human sciences
