Peter Odili

Dr. Peter Otunuya Odili (b. 15 August 1948) has been governor of Rivers State in Nigeria since 29 May 1999. He is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). Peter Odili has announced that he will be running for president in the 2007 election under the ruling PDP. However a day before the PDP's presidential primaries held on December 16, 2006, Odili and other governors stepped down from contesting paving way for fellow govenor Umaru Musa Yar'Adua to emerge as the party's flag bearer.
