Peter Obi (born 19 July 1961) was governor of Anambra State in Nigeria from 17 March 2006 to 3 November 2006 and regained control of power in the State on 9 February 2007. He is a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party.

He replaced Chris Ngige, whose 2003 election victory was overturned by the Nigerian Federal Court of Appeal on 15 March 2006.

On 2 November 2006, he was impeached by 16 members of the state house of assembly after 7 months in office. He was replaced the next day by Dame Virginia Etiaba, his deputy, making her the first ever female Governor in Nigeria's history. Peter Obi has been re-instated as the Governor of Anambra State since 9 February 2007 by the Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu. Mrs. Virgy Etiaba honourably handed the reins of power back to Mr Obi immediately after the court ruling.
