Peter Matanle

Peter Matanle is an academic sociologist and lecturer in Japanese studies in the School of East Asian Studies, University of Sheffield. He graduated in History from St. John's College, University of Cambridge, has an MA from the University of Essex, and gained his PhD from the University of Sheffield in 2001. He is the founder and general editor of the electronic journal of contemporary japanese studies and is the author of several publications in the fields of sociology and the sociology of work in Japan, including Japanese Capitalism and Modernity in a Global Era: Refabricating Lifetime Employment Relations (RoutledgeCurzon, 2003).
