Peter Maivia

Peter Maivia (born 1935 - died June 13, 1982) was a professional wrestler better known as High Chief Peter Maivia. He was a promoter and head of the famous Samoan wrestling family.

- Maivia's tattoos, which covered his abdomen and legs, were a symbol of his High Chief status, and were, according to Superstar Billy Graham, completed in three days
- Maivia purchased the Hawaii wrestling territory from Ed Francis, father of NFL great Russ Francis
- The Rock's original wrestling name, Rocky Maivia, is a combination of his father's wrestling name, Rocky Johnson, and Maivia's name, given that Maivia was his maternal grandfather. This was to emphasize The Rock's status as a "third generation" superstar.
