Peter A. Inverso (born December 24, 1938) is an American Republican Party politician, who has been serving in the New Jersey State Senate since 1992, where he represents the 14th Legislative District. Before entering the Senate, Inverso served two stints on the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders, one from 1987 to 1989 and the other from 1981 to 1983. He served in the New Jersey National Guard from 1956 to 1962.

Senator Inverso was Assistant Majority Leader from 1998 to 2001, and currently serves as the Deputy Minority Leader, a post held since 2004. Inverso is on the Senate Law and Public Safety and Veterans' Affairs Committee.

On March 26, 2007, Sen. Peter Inverso announced that he will not be seeking a sixth term in the New Jersey State Senate.

Inverso received a B.S. degree from Rider University in Commerce and Accounting. He is the President of Roma Federal Savings Bank.
