Peter H. Gilmore was appointed High Priest of the Church of Satan in 2001 by Magistra Blanche Barton, former High Priestess appointed by Anton LaVey. Within the church, he is known as Magus Peter H. Gilmore, High Priest of the Church of Satan.

As a representative of the Church of Satan, Gilmore has been interviewed on numerous television and radio programs dealing with the topic of Satanism, including spots on The History Channel, BBC, The Sci-Fi Channel, and Bob Larson's Christian radio show.

In 1989, he and his wife Peggy Nadramia began publishing The Black Flame; a Satanic journal, and continues to publish issues sporadically. In 2005, Gilmore provided a new introduction to LaVey's The Satanic Bible, and his essay on Satanism was published in the "Encyclopedia of Religion and Nature." In mid-2007, The Satanic Scriptures, a new book with a collection of his essays and writings will be released. The book also includes previously non-public rituals, such as both Satanic marriages and funerals.

Professionally, Gilmore is a musician with a Master's degree in Music composition from New York University and is said to work as a museum curator.[1]
