Peter Gregson

Professor Peter Gregson, FREng, CEng, (born Dunfirmline, Scotland, 1957) is a British research engineer and the 11th President and Vice-Chancellor of the Queen's University of Belfast, Northern Ireland, taking over from Sir George Bain in August 2004. He is married to Rachael and they have three children.

  • Educated at Cranleigh School in Surrey (1973-1979).
  • In 1980, Gregson graduated B.Sc. with First Class Honours in Material Sciences from Imperial College London.
  • In 1983, he was awarded a Ph.D. from Imperial College London.
  • Appointed lecturer in Engineering Materials at Southampton University, 1983,
  • Appointed Professor of Aerospace Materials, Southampton University, 1995.
  • Appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Southampton University, 2000.
  • Member, User Panel, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
  • Member of governing body, Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils, 2003.
