Peter Frenkel (born 13 May 1939 in Eckartsberga) was an East German athlete who competed mainly in the 20 kilometre walk.
He competed for East Germany in the 1972 Summer Olympics held in Munich, Germany in the 20 kilometre walk where he won the gold medal.
Peter returned four years later to defend his title at the 1976 Summer Olympics held in Montreal, Canada but finished in third place.
