Peter Briggs
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Peter Briggs is a British born screenwriter, hired generally by Hollywood-based motion picture studios, a number of projects by whom have suffered due to "bad luck", as attributed by Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News.[citation needed]
Briggs hit the screenwriting scene in 1991 (after being a film cameraman for several years) with his well-received Alien vs. Predator screenplay, sold to 20th Century Fox. The movie languished in development hell for many years, until the property was brought to the screen by Paul W. S. Anderson (who ditched Briggs' script) in Anderson's poorly received production.
Briggs has worked on a number of other movies, includingFreddy vs. Jason, Judge Dredd, the original period version of The War of the Worlds (which Tom Cruise's production company attempted to set up, thwarted by legal reasons, in 1998), assisted the producers set-up Highlander: The Series, and numerous other productions. Briggs' Hellboy script finally hit the screens as a blockbuster in 2004, sharing credit with director Guillermo Del Toro.
