Pete Greig
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pete Greig is one of the founding leaders of the 24-7 Prayer Movement, an international, interdenominational Christian community.
He was listed by Relevant Magazine as one of the top fifty 'Revolutionary Leaders' of his generation.
Greig worked as part of the ministry of Jackie Pullinger in Hong Kong before returning to England. Here he read theology & sociology at the University of Greenwich in London and graduated with a First class B.A. (Hons). He then moved to Chichester. Whilst there Greig accepted a pastoral position at Revelation Church, ministering to people with eating-disorders, self-harm and drug-abuse problems.
In 1994 Greig married Samie and together they established youth and student congregations in Chichester and Portsmouth. Both churches began by meeting in bars and focused almost entirely on those people not being reached by traditional church culture.
For seven years Greig served vocationally on the senior leadership team of Revelation Church.
In 1999 Greig established a single, night-and-day prayer room inspired by the hundred year prayer meeting of the Moravian Church. The idea caught on and became the 24-7 Prayer Movement.
