Talk:Pest (city)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I wanted to link independent city but that article is US-centric. Is city-state an appropriate term/article for Pest?

I know this answer is a bit late :) but city-state is definitely incorrect. The Hungarian equivalent for "independent city" would be "city with county rights", but that term came into use only in the mid-20th century, well after Pest was united with Buda. I think maybe the term free royal town is correct. But anyway, the real meaning of that sentence is that Pest was a separate city for most of its existence, and not a part of Budapest, as it is today. Alensha 14:24, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Some question

Is is true that Pest castle was founded in medle 10th century by Volga Bulgarians Billa, Boqsu and Xäsän? (tt:Billa, Boqsu häm Xäsän) --Untifler 20:00, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I haven't found anything about this. Alensha 14:24, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Pest (city)

This article should be moved back to Pest (city), which is now a redirect. The main point is not that it's in Hungary, but that it's a city, because there's also a Hungarian county by this name (see: Pest (county)), and as far as I know, other countries don't have cities called Pest. The majority of the articles refer to Pest as (city). Alensha 14:28, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

Moved. The majority of the pages were linking there anyway. Alensha 23:46, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
