Pestana Group is a portuguese group in the Tourism sector, its hotel chain PH&R - Pestana Hotels and Resorts, has 38 hotels and more than 6.500 rooms [1].

Its main activity is the Tourism, having also interests in Industry and Services [2]. It manages hotel units in 3 diferent continents: Europe, (Portugal), South America (Brasil and Argentina) and Africa (Mozambique, South Africa, Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe).

The Pestana Group besides the 38 hotels, it has 6 timesharing properties, 3 golf courses, 2 real estate/touristic properties, a gambling concession for a Casino, a participation in a charter airline, a travel agency and 3 Tour Operators.

The Pestana Group was founded by Mr. Manuel Pestana, when he adquired the Atlântico Hotel in 1965, a new 5 star hotel was built in its place, the works were completed in 1972. When Mr. Manuel Pestana retired he lef the control of the company to his son, Dionisio Pestana. In 2003 the Pestana Group took over the management of the Portuguese Pousada chain Pousadas de Portugal, taking responsability of more 40 Pousadas in national territory.
