My Talk Page

So if I choose to blank my talk page that's my prerogative correctct?--209.137.175.59 23:20, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

  • No, as I and TechWiz told you, its better not to blank your talk page. The warnings that are legitimate should remain there to indicate whether an IP has vandalized. Fortunately it seems that your IP has had rare occurrences of vandalism. So this should not worry you too much. For now allow the talk page to be left alone and continue contributing as you wish. I suggest creating an account for yourself to avoid these kind of messes and edit off a clean record. Regards,¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 23:23, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

This things says "should" and sounds like a suggestion to me, but not a command. Now if it said "must" then I'd believe you until then my user page is blank.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.137.175.59 (talkcontribs).

  • I am saying this for your best interest. Removing the warnings that are intended to alert an IP to discontinue vandalism is not a good thing. If someone under your IP address returns and continues to vandalize it would cause confusion as to how many times they have violated policy. Also, if you continue to blank your page people may report you for a WP:3RR violation (reverting changes more than 3 times). I strongly recommend you create an account to start off a fresh record if the matter concerns you so much.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 23:35, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't see how that would be a RV violation. I've blanked the page which means I've edited it each time. For goodness sakes its my page if I want to blank it let me blank the blanking thing.

  • No it still constitutes a 3RR for reverting the change (blanking is included). Also care to explain these edits: 1 & 2. These were done some time after we were discussing the warnings on your page.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 23:40, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

"Other exceptions to the rule include: Reverting simple and obvious vandalism, such as graffiti or page blanking (this only applies to the most simple and obvious vandalism. For other vandalism, please see Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism or Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents);"

Why don't you guys bother to read the pages you refer me to?

  • How does this relate to the legitimate warnings placed on your page? Why not just create a new account. You can edit with much ease and without having to deal with this mess.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 23:44, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Because your constant insitance of returning my page to a place that I'd rather not have it which is full of nasty text. These are not legitimate warnings I was flagged for blanking my own page because a bot put a warning up that i didn't deserve. I'd suggest you let this lay.

You're really being stupid here arn't you? WTF Did you not read my above post eplaining why all this happened in the first place?

  • Please do not use personal attacks while discussing this matter. The history of your talk page indicates you have blanked several valid warnings and caused it to be protected by an administrator. Please discontinue blank your talk page and simply create a new account.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 23:58, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Wow you're one heck of a robot aren't you? Are you glad I wasted your night, I hope you are because you could have been out catching real vandals, but instead you chose to duke it out with me. You know "There's a sucker born every minute"

Cry me a river!!!!

Amazing. 1 more day, PPG. ;) riana_dzasta 00:21, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Oh, wow. Very mature. I'll drop him a {{welcomeip}} :p riana_dzasta 00:32, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
    • Now he reported me for a 3RR on his talk page. MetsFan76 00:41, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
  • He is justified to do so, just as we are. However, for now let the matter be looked over.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 00:44, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Justified? I am acting clearly within my limits as a vandal fighter. It makes me not want to be bothered reverting vandalism anymore. MetsFan76 00:47, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Don't worry Mets, he is justified just us much as we are to report any misdoing he believes occurred on his page. I'm not saying that he is correct for doing so but merely that he has the right to report it. The good news is that an admin removed the reports due the lack of good faith made in them (see this).¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 00:49, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Yeah I saw it. It's just disheartening sometimes because I put alot of effort into my reverts and I don't need the trash-talk sometimes from guys like that. I'm an old-school Italian from the Bronx so I'm trying really hard to keep the temper in check LOL. MetsFan76 00:53, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
  • No worries, keep up the good work and don't let mishaps like this put you down :).¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 00:55, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Thanks. MetsFan76 00:56, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

BTW sorry about the poem comment, everything else I did was just to be a pain, that was a little out of line. I didn't want to hurt your feelings. --209.137.175.59 07:20, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Apology accepted :). I see you are editing from an account now. Good show, now you edit off a clean record with not having to deal with any of these shenanigans.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 15:11, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Cheers for the speedy revert on my user page! --Scott 21:37, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Sorry that I'm in this box, dunno where the main one is.

BUT: The OIFY is a facepunch thing, which was a bad idea of a member of our forum. We were all messing with it, and it should best be deleted. The OIFY is awful and doesn't need a wiki. Trust me. Archonos 2 Nevermind, it signed itself.

  • Alright then, I recommend that you try not to recreate it. Thank you.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 00:27, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

OIFY

I saw they re-created it after I had added the page to Wikipedia:Protected titles/February 2007/List. It's now re-deleted, and cannot be recreated again. Thanks, Nishkid64 00:28, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism?

How was that edit vandalism? I was just trying to give more examples of the kinds of slogans the WBC uses.--68.91.194.221 00:55, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

  • I'm not aware of ACLU or WBC slogans but the edit seemed suspicious for the strong language it contained. However, I apologize if it was incorrect. I will allow other recent change patrollers to look it over.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 00:58, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

72.227.115.11's vandalism to my User Page

Hi PPG - thanks for reverting 72.227.115.11's vandalism to my page. --EarthPerson 22:52, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Two.

Just checked my watchlist: there have been no edits to the Anna Nicole Smith article for well over an hour (the last edit was done by yours truly). It's first time I've seen it not-edited for that length of time since her death, and there was I thinking that many users, including myself, would be editing that article every five minutes for a week or more. I'm glad to see the vandals seemed to have got bored for the time being.

Secondly, you're doing great on your RfA: 149 support tallies with two days (Wikipedia time) left to go. I came up with a figure that you'll have 167 support tallies by the time the process end. If I'm wrong...well, you'll still have a very high support-tally-count, and I doubt I'll get blocked for guessing incorrectly. :) Acalamari 00:12, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Yes I'm quite relieved that the vandalism has cooled off that article. I found it so distasteful for people to dishonor someone's death that way. The semi-protects seem the best barrier at the moment but I hope it does not have to remain that way for too long. I'm sure there are anonymous users who would still be able to contribute in a beneficial way to that article. Anyways, thanks for the RfA compliments :)! I just hope I can do all those support votes justice and use the mop properly once I'm granted it...thanks again for the kind words.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 00:17, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
The semi-protection was re-instated very recently, as it was removed and the vandals materialized. A shame too, there was an anonymous editor who was doing a good job getting sources and cleaning up. Thanks to the vandals, that poor user couldn't edit anymore.
With your RfA, by the fact that so many users have given their support, you have done a great job here on Wikipedia. Even if I hadn't worked with you on Anna Nicole Smith, I would still have given a support tally due to work I've seen you do. I believe you'll make a great administrator, and everyone else (except the vandals and trolls) seem to agree. Acalamari 00:23, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Since you'll be an administrator soon, I expect you'll get more vandalism to your user page (even though you get a lot already). To help counter this, I'll add your user page to my watchlist so I can keep an eye on it for you in case I see any vandalism. Oh, and you're up to 150 now. Acalamari 01:02, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Thanks! Glad to know my page is under the protection of some pretty watchful eyes ;)...¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 01:03, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Cheers Khalidkhoso 21:57, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

  • I've experienced history lag at times. In your case the reason might be due to the IP immediately removing their vandalism after the fact.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 22:00, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Question

Hi Persian Poet Gal! I require your help. What do I do to request semi-protection for an article? The article "Fountain Valley High School" (just enter in search), is being vandalized on a daily basis by the school's long time rival. I've been doing my best to revert the vandalism. Thanks! Mehicdino 06:45, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Hello Mehicdino, I looked up the article but the history still does not indicate enough vandalism to justify protection at the moment. The edits have only started to reflect as vandalism until very recently (particularly only a couple vandal edits on the 10th as well as today). In the future if the article experiences significantly more vandalism you can submit a request at WP:RFPP and I would be more than happy to assist. However, I would recommend to watchlist for the time being. Doesn't seem like anything too drastic at the moment.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 06:48, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
  • I see, I guess I was overreacting a bit, sorry. It's what nationalism/"schoolism" does to somebody when somebody is attempting to hurt it. =) Mehicdino 07:07, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Don't worry its good to keep vigilant ;). I'll add the article to my watchlist as well to prevent any further trolls from trying to vandalize it.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 07:09, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Monobooks

Do you know anything about monobooks because mine is acting quite funny and if you know any good scripts that I can use and which has popups and extra non-admin RC Tools..Pliz..Thanx..ø~Cometstyles~ø (talk)

  • Unfortunately I have to admit I'm no wiz with monobooks. All I can do to help is ask what browser do you have? Recently when I was using monobook codes with Internet Explorer, my browser kept crashing whenever I tried to refresh the monobook. The codes started to become buggy and not even work anymore. Glen S chimed in and recommend I try downloading Firefox. The minute I started using the codes in Firefox, my problem was solved! However, if you already are a Firefox user try copying the codes from my monobook and see how they work out for you. Hope this helps.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 17:53, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Actually I use Internet Explorer even though I have Multi-browsers on my Computer such as firefox and netscape but I trust IE and anywayz it was working fine but I started to get these messsages ontop of my page("You seem to be using outdated versions of Topaz's Wikiscripts. While you may opt to hide this message until the next major update (or until you clear your cookies), you should strongly consider updating them to take advantage of the new features and bug fixes. In particular, the following scripts could use updating:toSource version 0 (latest is version function(){ var str=[]; switch(this.constructor) { case Boolean: str.push("(new Boolean(",this,"))"); break; case Number: str.push("(new Number(",this,"))"); break; case String: str.push("(new String(\"",$JSL.replace(this),"\"))"); break; case Date: str.push("(new Date(",this.getTime(),"))"); break; case Error().constructor: str.push("(new Error(",$JSL.$toSource(this.message),",",$JSL.$toSource(this.fileName),",",this.lineNumber,"))"); break; case Function: str.push("(",$JSL.$replace(this.toString()),")"); break; case Array: var i=0,j=this.length;") and then everything failed but I already updated the Topaz Thingy but still the same problem as you can see I have a really big

monobook..anywayz i'll try 2 get it fixed or by completely deleting my monobook and then downloading it again and I hope that works(yikes I nearly wrote an article..hehe)..Ok thanx Anywayz..ø~Cometstyles~ø (talk)

  • Best wishes to you on that. Monobook problems are always a PAIN...ugh¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 18:05, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Sorry to sound intervening, but is it wise to list either monobook here on this talk page? I was thinking about the vandalism that you often get, Persian Poet Gal, and I was thinking that vandals could attack both monobooks. Acalamari 18:06, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Acalamari, there is one blessed fact about monobooks...only you or administrators can edit them :)...THANK GOD for that.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 18:08, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Amen..(oops I 4got iam an athiest..hehe.--Cometstyles 18:12, 13 February 2007 (UTC).
  • I didn't know any of that about monobooks. As far as I know, my monobook is empty. I know even less that you do about monobooks, Persian Poet Gal. Acalamari 18:16, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
  • hmmm fixed 4 now, even though I still get that irritating message I indicated above and thanx 4 ya help PPG and Acalamari and yes monobooks help make your job less harder providing you with navigational popups and rollbacks and I dont know how you manage to get things done without it but really..thanx 4 your help..its really appreciated..ø~Cometstyles~ø

(talk)

  • I didn't know what monobooks were for. I'll ask an administrator about them. I've only learned more about monobooks in the last week. From what I've heard, the monobook would have helped me on the Anna Nicole Smith page, as well as others. Acalamari 18:36, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

(indent reset) Sorry if I seem like I'm eavesdropping (though there are no private conversations on a public website), but I think I can answer the question, "What are monobooks for?" Monobook files (monobook.js and monobook.css) are for customizing the way MediaWiki works. For example, inserting importScript("User:Lupin/popups.js"); into monobook.js would import Lupin's Popups tool, which displays previews of moused-over links and provides extensive menus for performing actions on those linked pages. monobook.css allows you to customize the interface of MediaWiki. I have in my monobook.css code that widens the tab bar at the top (to allow for extra tabs inserted by scripts) and other stuff that rounds corners and such. Hope that answers your question! — Tuvok[T@lk/Improve me] 19:15, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

  • I wouldn't call it eavesdropping at all! I've directed Acalamari to come here and read this. Thanks for typing that out Voyagerfan!¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 19:19, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
  • I thank you all for the help, but unfortunately, I've forgotten how to get into my own monobook. I believe I looked at it once, and after that, didn't pay any more attention to it. Not only that, but I use Internet Explorer, not Firefox. Persian Poet Gal was saying about how Internet Explorer did a "Data Maneuver" (in other words, it crashed) when she had the text in the monobook. Before I ask anything else, to avoid annoying Persian Poet Gal with the "you have new messages" box, everyone may reply to this message and further message about this topic on my talk page. Acalamari 19:28, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Thank you. I'll try this out later. At the moment, I have been busy with two tasks: your talk page, and helping other users deal with a user with 10-20 sockpuppets. Acalamari 19:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
  • I do have a question though, do firewalls affect the popups? If they do, then popups and other monobook features will be useless, as my computer has a firewall. Acalamari 20:06, 13

Sorry for the procrastin...apparently he is not aware that Wikipedia is constantly tormented by sockpuppets...I quite like an upcoming motto of the day which states "Gotta catch 'em all".¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 19:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello

I'm here to ask you, Persian Poet Gal why you keep on deleting the Dane, Wisconsin edits I have personally done. I'm here to ask you to please stop, I'm just here to help people get to know Dane well. Thank You Michael 22:47, 13 February 2007 (UTC) Michael

  • Your edits are considered vandalism due to adding nonsense material, non-notable people, and things like this. Please refrain from vandalizing that article anymore, thank you.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 22:50, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

The information posted on the Dane, Wisconsin page is not nonsense, it is facts about the town. The people are also very notable and they have been seen throughout the state. I ask you please to stop this nonsense. Thank you, Michael 22:53, 13 February 2007 (UTC) Michael

  • Please bear in mind that you may be possibly blocked for violating a last warning if you make any other vandal edits beyond this point. Please discontinue the nonsense, thanks.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 22:54, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Hello, unfortunately I still had to report you to WP:AIV for the username vio, also please try not to start off a new user account with vandalism either. Doing so will cause it to be blocked as a vandal only account. Thank you.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 20:43, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Templates

Is there some central template table somewhere that I can memorise? I'm a bit sparse on anything thats not vandal warnings, and stuff like NPOV and username violations would be good. RHB Talk - Edits 21:06, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Nasty.

That was a nasty piece of vandalism and nasty personal attack. I hope you didn't mind me reverting it. Acalamari 21:21, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Or me blocking the vandal! -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 21:22, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
  • I was just going to warn the vandal. I don't need to now. Acalamari 21:23, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Beat me!

No, not literally. You beat me to the revert on an article on my watchlist, Last Warning. I created this article and have noticed a lot of vandalism to it - usually after someone has received the last warning for vandalism on their user page. It really is ironic. No, it is, honest. Of course, the fact that you beat me to the revert is the reason I believe you will make an excellent admin. Not long now. Keep it up! Bubba hotep 21:41, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Heh, my apologies for denying you a revert and thanks for the compliments!¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 21:42, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
That's ok. I got to get him the second time. Funny, I don't remember these lyrics on the album, I will have to go and check, but in the meantime, I will have to remove as unsourced. :) Bubba hotep 21:49, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Best of luck on your RfA

Hello Persian Poet Gal, I wish you the best of luck on your RfA, which should be closing in less than a day. I have never seen a canadate have zero Opposes, zero Neutral votes, and 174 Supports on their RfA. You also got nominated by another administrator, for the second or third time. I'm sure that you will be a major help the community in fighting vandalism. You helped the community in reverting vandalism so well that I thought you already were an administrator.--Wikipedier (talk contribs) 04:48, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

  • I appreciate all the encouragement, thank you. I cannot express how much gratitude I feel at the moment for the kindness of this community :)...¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 16:28, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Something.

I suggest you go to my user page briefly, and go to the section called Origin of Acalamari. There's something there you might find interesting. Acalamari 16:34, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Earned yourself a spoofer I see. You know that you have been around Wikipedia for quite some time when you earn one of those ;).¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 16:37, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Actually, it comes from that user I've been helping other users deal with. That parodied/spoofed name of mine is one of many users that the sockpuppeteer has spoofed. In all, that user has at least 73 sockpuppets (a record?), 26 being IP sockpuppets, and maybe 15 of those sockpuppets are names similar to existing users. Acalamari 16:43, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
  • There are users known to have more but I can relate to being targeted by persistent sockpupeeters. No worries though, its mostly a grab for attention. In the end we must all remember that this is the web and not real life. Plus their strings don't stay attached too long with a little snip of the scissors :P...¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 16:46, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Kiarostami

Hi there!

Would you please take a look at Abbas Kiarostami? I have been working on it intensively over the last two months. It is very kind of you if you could glance through it and comment on the article and/or edit it. There are probably some more language problems that escape me. Thanks in advance. Sangak 18:53, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Hello, I just finished having a quick read of the article. Unfortunately I am not familiar with Abbas Kiarostami's work but the references cited are valid and informative. I say its on the right track if you are aiming for a good article (according to some of the discussion on the talk page). The language reads quite nicely but there are a few sections which sound a little broken or disjointed. For example this sentence from Film career - Early work "After a number of adventures, he finally reaches Tehran stadium at the time of the match, but there, in wrong-doing he meets an element of moral punishment for his crimes and comeuppance." should be reworded. Somehow at the wrong-doing part the sentence seems to fall apart. However, your efforts have been truly significant in the additions to this article and it very much impresses me! The only advice I could give to you is to continue expanding and tweaking the article. I don't see much wrong in what you are doing so far.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 19:07, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your prompt reply and the comments. Take care. Sangak 19:21, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
I fixed that paragraph. Is that possible for you to put a comment in peer review page? There were some reviews yesterday and I fixed (?) the problems they mentioned. Still needs more work to make the article readable. Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience. Sangak 19:35, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
  • No inconvenience at all. The only thing is I am unfamiliar with his work and I believe it would be better to find those who know more extensively about the subject of the article. Copy-editing is one thing but factualness and verifiability is another. Personally as far abiding by Wikipedia's manual of style it seems its on the right track ;). As I said before, the best advice I could give to you is to continue what you are doing.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 19:38, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
I will take your advice. I am nearly sure about the accuracy of the statements as far as my understanding of English language allows me. I actually studied for some time to be able to write it. I also asked several people from Film Wikiproject and Biography wikiproject to review it. Some have done it already. Thanks and have a nice time. Sangak 19:42, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Persian Poet Gal, Please hep me undelete this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Island_Exchange My username is Clasione... Please help me do this. I have already spoken to WIKI admin and they are urging me to get a wiki community member to help me.

  • Hello Clasione. If you have spoken to a Wiki admin, they themselves should be able to undelete the page. I would recommend trying WP:DRV to ask for its deletion to be reviewed and possibly overturned.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 15:29, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Persian Poet Gal,

I have spoken to someone at info-en@wikimedia.org in reference to this ticket: Re: [Ticket#2007021810002395] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Island_Exchange

They said as they *can* overturn, it is frowned upon within the community... They said I shoudl get someone on wiki to do it, but I don't know where to start... Can you please try to help me gett this done... I feel pretty confident that you know your way around here much better then this is very confusing and frustrating for me... I don't know where to go and how to contact the right person. I am trying everywhere and eveyone says to go somewhere else... Please help me out with this.

Clasione

  • This page has been deleted several times. It would be highly inappropriate for one administrator to decide to undelete the previously deleted material (due to the amount of times it was deleted) without it being run through WP:DRV. Take it to the deletion review and allow the community to decide if it is appropriate to recreate. Thank you.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 20:51, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey, greetings! Usually I go with the default checks (anons only blocked, account creation blocked); sometimes though I will uncheck "account creation blocked" to allow them to create accounts. That's the softest of all. I love these new blocking options--they result in minimal collateral damage, and keep the bored kids in class from vandalising. • Speaking of spoofers and names, have you ever typed in "Persian Poet Gal" in Google (or whichever search engine you use)? I Googled "Acalamari," very recently, and of course, I showed up on Wikipedia pages where my name was written, but I also appeared on at least two blogs (there is a discussion on my talk page about this), where I am hated. A few hours or so ago, an administrator read a message I posted on HighInBC's talk page. The administrator Googled his own name, and found there were people who hated him too. Acalamari 22:11, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
  • The important thing to remember is not everyone will love you ^_^. This is called the internet not real life. Hating someone virtually is kind of amusing in my opinion.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 22:13, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
  • I know it's not real life :). I think it's interesting to find my username on non-Wikipedia sites where people are discussing me. They go on about me wasting time editing Wikipedia, but they seem to waste more time writing about how much they hate me. :) Acalamari 22:19, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Saddam Hussein a Victim of Child Abuse

Dear Persian Poet Gal,

There is evidence that Saddam Hussein did indeed suffer abuse at the hands of his stepfather, that is why I placed the child abuse designation on his page. I have read about the Stepfather's abuse of Saddam in numerous books. I do not appreciate this factual information being removed.

Sincerely, Garr1984.

Thank you very much for removing the autoblock from my IP (80.42.49.227 (talk • contribsWHOISRDNSRBLsblock userblock log)). But I would like to state clearly that, as far as I understand the term, the IP address in question is not an open proxy. As WHOIS makes clear, the IP address belongs to "Tiscali UK Limited" (A UK home internet provider) and as such will be used by a large number of UK contributors. An indef block of this account (from which there have only been 2 instances of vandalism) is highly counterproductive in that it prevents a large number of UK internet users from modifying Wikipedia. I request that the indef block of the IP be reconsidered. Thanks, WjBscribe 03:41, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Glad at least you are able to edit again. Administrator Nlu in the last block message expressed that he believed it was an open proxy. What you indicate is quite true however, I must admit I'm no wiz with recognizes them or not. I would ask Nlu to review that block and re-examine if that IP is truly an open proxy or not. If you run into any more problems in the future, I would be more than happy to lift the autoblocks for you.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 17:27, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Congratulations

I have viewed your userpage as well as your edit count, and I must say that they are exemplary of your skill as a wikipedian. CONGRATULATIONS on the successful RfA. I was wondering when you would become an administrator! I did not know that you had an RfA, but if I had known, I would have definitely supported you.

Again, CONGRATULATIONS.

P.S. Do you know how to align the wdefcon template.

Unblocking of User:EccentricRichard

Hello PPG. I would like to know the reasoning behind your recent unblocking of EccentricRichard. As you can see from his contribs, he was extremely disruptive, did not let policy get in the way of his edits, and generally was not a good editor. I question whether your unblocking was appropriate, straight after Yamla declined his request. Richard has in the past said he will do things and went on not to honour this. With the sockpuppetry too, I feel an indef block is necessary. Thanks — Gary Kirk // talk! 16:00, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Hello Gary Kirk sorry that I could not get back to you earlier (was on vacation with family over the President's day weekend). If you review the messages on EccentricRichard's talk page you will notice that Yamla also expressed that he will consider giving this user a second chance if no admin reviewed his unblock message 24 hours after his requesting it. There is not much evidence to indicate that EccentricRichard's sockpuppetry was recent and that it was done after an exchange of emails between him and Yamla. EccentricRichard's contribs were rarely blatant vandalism but mostly unconstructive page moves and the like. I believe his intentions are now more towards good than bad and that he understands continuing that kind of pattern of editing will cause him to be blocked once more. Editors in EccentricRichard's case should not be excommunicated in my opinion but given a second chance after a due amount time (he waited what seems for close to 4 months). If you believe the unblock was still not appropriate, I completely hold nothing against you asking for others to review it. If you ever have any other questions feel free to drop another comment on my talk page.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 17:27, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Jock McKeen page

Greetings. I recently took over the production of the page "Jock McKeen" and it was removed by you recently. I believe this is likely because the page was begun by Jock McKeen himself. I have taken over the task of creating the page, realizing that it is inappropriate for Jock to do it himself. So .. please restore the page so that I can get to work to do it properly. Any other comments to me about why you removed the page? Thanks.

William Meyer 15:06, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Hello William Meyer. It seems another administrator has already done so for you. The reason why the first version of the page was deleted was because the author did not indicate the necessary notability to pass the WP:BIO guideline. Often subjects are encouraged not to write about themselves due to the difficulty of referring to their biography in a third person style. Thank you for rewriting it. At least now it meets the standards much better than its previous state. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me at my talk page again.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 17:27, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

A few days late, but:

Congratulations on your RfA! Now, back to what I actually wanted to ask you: What do you consider to be the minimum requirements for an administrator? :) - Penwhale | Blast the Penwhale 10:03, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Honestly, as long as they are an individual who is dedicated to the community (that means a good number of Wikipedia space contributions as well as mainspace contributions), have been around for a reasonable amount of time, show enough responsibility and maturity to handle the position, have little to no blocks on their record, and as well as have good knowledge of Wikipedia policy; then they are alright in my book ;).¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 17:27, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello fellow Persian!

My question is, is there a subst template for either "Regarding edits made during ____ to ____" or "If this is an IP address..." as you have placed here? Thanks for your assistance! --Nevhood 18:09, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

  • How lovely to meet a fellow Persian :)! Those tidbits come as extras of a rollback script I use. If you are into editing your monobook.js then copy the script from my monobook to give you anti-vandal rollback (do not copy anything labeled with User:Topaz or User:Persian Poet Gal). It allows you to rollback edits of vandals with ease, opens their talk page automatically for you, and gives you extra tabs to issue them warnings with a touch of a button. The only drawback however is that it requires Mozilla Firefox to use the script (so you need to download the browser if you want to use it). The version I use is a bit dated so you need to replace the "test1" text with the newer warnings (the newer version with all the new warnings can be found here but seems a tad buggy at the moment, maybe its just for me). Hope you find some of this technical jargon useful :P.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 18:19, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Thank you! The script works just fine. I will also try the newer version that you have provided. Glad to meet you too! --Nevhood 18:34, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Jock McKeen page

Thank you for your followup note .... I appreciate your contact, and offer for further assistance. I am working to improve the article. William Meyer 21:38, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, Persian!

Arigato, Persian-san, for reverting the nonsense to my user and user talk pages and blocking what's his face. If you don't mind me asking for your personal opinion on the matter, do you think I should get my user page semi'd (just my user page, not my talk page)? It seems to be a pretty big hotspot for vandalism, considering I'm no one important. Anyways, thanks again for helping me out and I hope to talk to you soon! // DecaimientoPoético 21:43, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

  • With a 29 page vandal count I think I would definitely recommend it at this point :P. I wouldn't mind at all to fulfill the request for you if you truly feel the page needs to be protected. I can always easily unprotect it for you at any time. Just say the word and I'll swallow the key- I mean lock the page from any pesky anon vandals.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 21:47, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
  • If it's not too much to ask (and I doubt that it could be), I would really appreciate if you did. I know I have some really great friends who probably wouldn't mind reverting vandalism to my page if they caught some, but it might be best to protect it anyway. // DecaimientoPoético 22:02, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

You seem pretty quick, I've missed quite a few to see your name tick past--pgk 23:04, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Yippee for irony!

Bot

I've blocked it as an unapproved bot. It certainly isn't listed at WP:BRFA. Looking at the contribs claiming to be cut and paste moves, I'd block that anyway, there is no way such a bot would be approved. I guess we need to delete that lot (checking the history of course). I pinged Tony on IRC, but no response so he must be away for the time being, but I seriously doubt it is anything to do with him. As a normal view, if a bot is doing something funny block it, if it turns out to be legitimate then we can unblock it easily enough and most people running bots are pretty reasonable in seeing the dangers of malfunctioning bots. --pgk 23:39, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks I appreciate the prompt response. As a new admin I hate rushing into something when I'm not sure. It seemed bogus but I wanted to check in with someone first. Once again thanks.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 23:40, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Poetry

A reminder - all material published on WP, including userspace, is considered to be released under the GFDL (unless it's material that was already public domain, or if it turns out we didn't have the rights to it in the first place, of course). This includes your page of poems. You may want to remove your page of poems from public display, or, alternately, to make it clear that you are releasing the poems under the GFDL. DS 01:58, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi there! I'm wondering if you might consider removing User:Persian Poet Gal/Poetry Corner from Wikipedia (please see this page for what is considered appropriate usage of userspace). Not only does the page appear to be unencylcopedic, but the poems are now GFDL, and you might want to publish them in a venue where you can retain the copyright. Thanks in advance for considering my request! Cheers gaillimhConas tá tú? 02:02, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Though I have no plans to publish my work in the immediate future, I believe you both are correct in your advice for me to take it down. I appreciate your concern and I understand its merely to protect the rights to my work and I created that page sometime back before I was aware of WP:USERPAGE and the like :P. Once again thank you both for your concern.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 15:29, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Anna Nicole Smith Unprotection.

This IP 212.139.222.62 (talk contribs) asked me when the Anna Nicole Smith article was going to be unprotected. Do you think it's wise to ask for unprotection for it now or not? I told the user I'd ask an administrator about this, and since I know you're online at the moment, you were the best to ask (you were also easy to link to in my watchlist). Acalamari 19:17, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

  • The expiry time for the protection is currently set to never. By now I would have opted to unprotect it but if you look at the history even established users (those registered for more than 4 days or more) are still vandalizing it. May need another few weeks or so. If however, the vandalism starts to really cool off for at least 3-4 days, I'll consider unprotecting it.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 19:21, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Okay, thanks for your response. I'm keeping an eye on the article anyway. It's in my watchlist. Acalamari 21:19, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Any chance you can unblock the above username? Its my own sock so I don't comprimise my account when I'm at public computers :) RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 02:14, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Thank goodness you were not targeted by an impostor :P. Unblocking the account is ok I guess since you verified it is yours. However, Wikipedia has a doppelganger policy that you might want to read through first before making any contributions under that account. Next time I recommend that you try making a doppelganger without spoofing your name. Usually you have less issues when editing with it due to it not resembling any editor and would less likely be mistaken for a false imposter.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 02:19, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
I took this to WP:RFCN before I created the account :) (Its still there at the min). Thanks for the concern, would never want someone editting under my name, hence the account. Sorry

Sorry about my recent attack on Redvers. I was just upset that my work on Eric Schuttler was deleted. I just wanted to say sorry and would like to hear back from you.

I'm sorry but I don't see what you don't appreciate. What I put on the article was actual facts. I'm sorry but could you explain to me why this is not right in your eyes?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ricecop07 (talkcontribs).

Enough of this nonsense...Maybe a semi-protect on Philip Walton and vandal-only blocks of Ricecop07 (talk contribs) and AngryGiraffe (talk contribs) are warranted here? IPs 208.189.46.195 (talk contribs) & 69.149.235.61 (talk contribs) are also involved. -- Scientizzle 19:20, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Harassment

I want to personally thank you for removing that vandal (User:Silicondirect) that was posting my real-life information online. I suspect it is someone that knows me in real life, as i do not tell anyone such information, either online or offline. It confuses me as to why people do this. I don't know who it is to the tee, but i am very sure the person is Samuel Flint of Tampa, Florida... The person has a second account here as User:Sonysnob. RingtailedFoxTalkStalk 22:44, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

  • No problem, the page was acknowledging his intentions so I did not see a good reason for it to stay up.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 22:46, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

The user's been a long-time vandal, as seen by Special:Contributions/24.103.242.178. Do you know what i can do to stop this vandalism and harassment? And if i don't tell anyone personal things in real life or online, how do they get out? RingtailedFoxTalkStalk 22:48, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Sure, I'd like to help...the only thing that confuses me is how the IP and User:Sonysnob are stalking you or revealing personal information? The only suspicious edits were those made on the same highway article by both the IP and the user. In regards to personal information, I would recommend that you change your online passwords routinely to protect your accounts from being compromised. Also, I strongly recommend you check out the options on WP:STALK.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 22:54, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Will check that out the second i get home. My online passwords change regularly. RingtailedFoxTalkStalk 22:58, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

It seems that sonysnob has no intentions of being civil. what should i do now? tear him a new one? DDOS his website? RingtailedFoxTalkStalk 02:34, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Fuck it. other Administrators just keep deleting my requests for help on this stalking at the WP:STALK talk page... perhaps it's time i quit cliquepedia. RingtailedFoxTalkStalk 02:38, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

I'm a little confused with and have some suspicion of Yells at soup.
