[edit] Catalase versus peroxidase

What's the main difference between peroxidases and catalase?

I mean, when does one take the action and when does another?

Wow, I have no idea. When you find out, could you edit the page to allow for the distinction? JFW | T@lk 21:35, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Cataclase uses the extra element connected to the hydrogen needed and peroxidase doesn't

Catalase has H2O2 as its sole substrate, and uses the oxidation of one molecule of H2O2 to reduce the second. Peroxidases, on the other hand use an external electron donor to reduce H2O2, such as NADPH. TimVickers 00:04, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

It would be nice if you replace the mechanism of zymolisys of hydrogen peroxide. I cannot find it in Internet. If I find it out I add it.

[edit] Size of proteins

Anyone knows what the peroxidase size is?

Peroxidases are a large group of proteins, try searching Swiss-Prot with the keyword "peroxidase" the results should give you some idea. TimVickers 00:04, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
