In such cases the notion of perfect play mainly serves as a yardstick to measure the effectiveness of practical strategies or algorithms.

I don't understand this bit - if we don't know what perfect play happens to be, I don't see how we can possibly use it as a yardstick to compare our actual strategy with... Evercat 17:10, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
